Who Wants Foxglove Seed?

Dagwood's picture

Will shortly have a surplus of seed for Digitalis Purpurea "Dwarf Foxy" - its yer run of the mill foxglove. Those in need please lemme know

The lupines (Russel Mix) are also almost ripe. Lemme know if these appeal as well.

I'd love some digitalis, Dag, thanks!  Did the poppies ever get going for you?  If not, I've got tons of seed and would be happy to send more........

Hi Ruth:

I've got a steep hillside that gets full sun, and I'd love some poppy seeds if you have any to spare. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Thanks!

Hi Christina,

I don't have any fresh poppy seed at the moment, but I will by the end of summer/early fall.  If you send me an email with your address via Taunton (just click on my name to get to my profile) I'll almost certainly remember to send you some.  If I make a paper note to myself now, I will almost certainly lose it by then!   (And, you might want to edit your post to remove your mailing address -- I alway err on the side of caution when it comes to making personal information publicly available.)

Cheers!

Poppy seed

I would love some poppy seeds! I am not far away, over the river in Southern NJ.... Is it true that you are supposed to sow poppy seeds after the last snow?

My email is mhkilleen@comcast.net

I could use some digitalis seed . In So Md we had a couple rains come thru while they were blooming and in a couple days turned everything brown and they have given up the ghost. If you can send them to ruth when you send hers I can gwt them from her.

I will hunt down small envelopes to send them in. You guys interested in Russel's Mix Lupines as well??

BTW, THought I better pass along the warning since everyone I tell about my foxglove gets this horrid look on their face - Foxglove is toxic to cats.

Ruth, email me and I'll throw em in the mail post haste.

Well, in sufficient quantities, foxglove can be fatal to humans...

I think there was an Agatha Christie mystery about someone murdering their family by preparing a salad made with it.

Made a big impression on me as a kid.

I was told a similar story as a child. There were oleanders planted along the sidewalk that I traveled to my best friend's house, and I was always careful to not even brush against them. Check out what Urban Legends has to say. http://www.snopes.com/horrors/poison/oleander.htm

Love your quote!

I would be interested in Lupine seeds. How about when to plant them?

Oh, that would be great!  How kind of you.

I am tempted to dig up some beardless iris (I. Pallida?  They were here when I bought the house, but they look just like the photo on this site:  http://www.schreinersgardens.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=IPAL&Category_Code=BI).  If you're interested, I'll wait till Fall and send you some in exchange for the Foxgloves.

See you later,

Good luck on your exams, Dag, and don't worry about the seeds.......

I'd love any seed that you have to spare. I bought a home in December, and the yard was completely bare, but for two hundred-year-old trees. Oh, the possibilities!

Thank you,

Digitalis seeds

Dag,

Throw in some digitalis seeds in with those lupines.

I am just starting as a gardener. The only thing I have in profusion are the seeds from my tiger lillies, orange with brown spots, 3-4 ft tall bloom in late June-July.
