80th Birthday Party

80th Birthday Party (post #11522)

The B-Day party was a hoot.  About 125 people came to scarf down my pulled pig.  The kids had a great time making their own pizzas in the earth oven.  When the pizza was cooked, Tish cleared out the ashes and baked artisan bread.  Hot out of the oven, the bread had about a half life of about 25 seconds.   Temps went up to 97F but there was a light breeze.  With the heat, it took a whole lot more sodas that I had planned for.  Oh well, I've got good well water.  I really didn't want folks to bring me stuff 'cause I've been collecting stuff for nearly 80 years, but they think that they have to give birthday gifts so Tish suggested canned food for a food bank.  Great idea and I don't have to pretend that some doodad is "just what I always wanted".  I had BBQd about 65 pounds of pork shoulders and I was afraid that I would run out.  I've got about 10 or 12 pounds of BBQ left.  Com'on by and we'll have another party.

BeeJay -

Congratulations! I like the gift idea. There's a local food bank; I'll drop something off for you this week. Many Happy Returns!

Congratulations; sounds like you had a nice day. It was warmer there than down here in S. Florida! Happy birthday and hope this year is the best yet.
