So you're saying that Wellington's Actually have nothing to do with that little bear that eats Marmelade?? - Oh, We're On.

Hello folks, and welcome to this week's edition of the Short-Read Synopsis where our goal is to save you the trouble of actually reading through the entire FG Forum by summarizing the key posts. Here's all you need to know about the fencly goings-on.

Newroot asks: WHAT TO GROW IN ZONE 10

"We have moved to this area which is Zone 10, and have no idea what annuals, perennials, shrubs, or trees to grow."

Dear Seedling,  You're in Zone 10, what are you whining about? What grows there are girly drinks and sunsets. Go on the beach. Who gives a damn about the garden.

flee says: 1st Anniversary of the Oppossum Incident

"April 15th will be tax day for most people, for me it will be the 1st anniversary of the day the oppossum crawled out of the yard waste bag as I was reaching in!"

Dear Biting Insect, It seems to me that you could have a symbiotic relationship with this guy! Stick with the Chippendales Chaps from now on, OK, no surprises there!

RonM0710 asks: Keeping Deer out of the Garden

"All right, how do all you country gardeners keep deer out of the garden?  I have been told there isn't much that works.  I was going to put a fence around the garden and was told the deer would just jump over it.

Any advice?"

Dear Numerically Inclined, Put up a sign that says "Zoo." Now your plantings are tax deductable as animal feed. If the deer continue to jump add "and Circus" to the bottom of the sign.

RosaSharon says: I see this all the time........

"and it always confuses me."

Dear Late Bloomer, I haven't seen mine in quite some time, not sure if its due to the bifocals or the beer, but either way works for me. No confusion here.

CitytoCountry asks: New soil question from the newbie!

Okay almost finished with rock walls and will be getting ready to fill with garden soil - now my question - do I have to/should I buy all commercial pre-mixed stuff like Miracle grow garden soil or can I mix my own?

Dear Wandering Soul, Most walls are filled with insulation. This belongs on the FHB forum. Miracle grow will not help the walls grow faster.

LonesomeDave whines: Losing plants every spring

I've been an amateur gardener for several years and was wondering if many of you lose plants every year or is it just me. I plant many perrenials every spring/summer only to have half or better not come back the next year. I make sure i only plant hardy plants to my zone or lower, (I'm zone 5). What do you think i'm doing wrong. It's very frustrating. Any help sure would be great.

Dear Man without a Date, I lose things all the time! most often its screwdrivers, but sometimes its pruners. I find that leaving things out in the snow increases the likelihood of losing them. You should think about that!

rosegirl7 writes: MY GLADS ARE WILTING & NOT BLOOMING

HELP!!! I planted my Gladiolas  over 15 years ago and they faithfully come up each Spring. At first they are sturdy strong babies, but as they mature they wilt and lay on the ground and do not flower. They do this every year. They are not thirsty; I keep them watered (2-3 times a week) and I know to feed them 3-4 times a season. I live in Georgia and as you know we have red clay as soil. I have purchased and added some garden soil but it's been awhile back. What can I do to help my Glads stand up straight and tall and flower??

Dear thorns and hips for 7, Mine wilted sometime ago and hasn't bloomed since. It may be that its thirsty,or hungry. Not sure which. I don't think it has to do with the beer or the bifocals, but you know sometimes once something wilts, its just the end of it, just like todays show.

Thanks for tuning folks, drive safe and have a great night!
