Jeana an Karen - Plants

wflather's picture

Jeana and Karen,

This past spring I promised to see if I could prepare some plants for you two:

Jeana, I have several Carolina Sweetshrub (Calycanthus floridus) ready to go.  These were off-shoots that I root-pruned to separate from the parent plant this spring.  Yesterday I dug these out, pruned back, washed, wrapped in wet newspaper and are ready to ship.  I have about 5 of these, so may be able to send to others if interested.

Karen, You asked for Virgina Bluebells, (Mertensia virginica).  I have close to a pound of tubers.  These were excavated from our floodway back woods yesterday with a backhoe.  These tubers are pretty brittle, but this was still the best method due to the denseness of both soil and scrub growth.  I am pretty sure I have many tubers that will survive and thrive.

I do need to find some boxes.

Send me your addresses at wflather (at) seda-cog.org

Thanks and belated Happy Halloween!

Thanks so much for remembering -- dense soil I can provide in quantity. I'll send you an e-mail tomorrow when my kids aren't plaguing me to get off the computer.
