container plants
Can someone tell me how to break the surface tension on the soil in a container? The water just sits on top and takes forever to soak in. Newly potted, with new potting soil. Thanks Fishercat

wetting soilless mixes (post #19499, reply #1 of 1)
This can be a problem with containers and soilless mixes, especially peat moss which does become hydrophobic if allowed to dry too much. I have found that when that happens with my containers putting them in a tub, larger then the container, and filling that with water, and allowing that to soak until wet helps. Best is to not allow the soilless mix to dry out that much.
