Every year I get catalogs that offer $25 or $50 off my order. If I order less than that, my order is free.
I have taken them up on it a few times, but I finding things in those catalogs that I really want.
Anyone else try these offers? They are usually from bulb companies or even Gardens Alive.

I have in the past. Guernsey's hope I spelled correctly used to have Asiatic lilies 50 bulbs for $12.95. Every year I would order 100 bulbs and I had quite a nice lily garden. Unfortunately the X got that garden! Gardens Alive is a good catalog with the coupon they offer it is hard not to order something.

It's Gurney's, I believe. I, too, have ordered from Gardens Alive. Their fertilizers are a little pricey for a cheapskate like me, so the $25 offer is a good deal.

Yes Gurney's. I do not order from them any more the quality is not there for me. Not been disappointed with Garden's Alive although a little pricey as you mentioned. The coupon is a great incentive to buy from them. Always looking for a deal or freebie. DH says I am not so much frugal as I love the thrill of the hunt. :)

I take advantage of all the catalog coupons that I can; I have never been burned; most times early in the year I just buy garden supplies rather than plants, leaving more money for plants when spring is closer. I have noticed that more catalog companies are starting to do this; I guess they found out that could reap cash to keep their business's going thru winter. I alphabetize all catalogs and staple a sheet of paper to outside of catalogs with my wish list attached with the page number, and price. Cost comparions become easy this way. This is all done while watching tv, and this seems to work.
Most of the $25 offers I have (post #16106, reply #5 of 6)
Most of the $25 offers I have seen have been from the MI Bulb affiliated nurseries - Spring Hill, etc. Most of these have their items overpriced for what you get and the coupon brings them back within normal range. I've use the earlybird ordering coupons offered by Bluestone, though. They've increased their prices substantially, though not out of reason. The coupons make Bluestone affordable. Another type of offer I have used that quite a few nurseries use are the gift certificates. They offer them usually in December-January for as much as 20% off. I buy them for myself and then turn around and order for me.

I love Bluestone, too. I am actually about to place a large order with them. I don't mind the higher prices and small plants because what they usually send is high quality and grows fast.
