How do I get my mophead hydrangeas to bloom? (post #19346)

My mophead hydrangeas haven't bloomed in years. They are dwarf varieties. I do not prune them at all so I am not cutting off the developing blooms. The soil pH is 6.5 and they are in part shade. I have given them extra phospate. Do you have any suggestions?

Hydrangea not blooming (post #19346, reply #1 of 1)
Where in the world are you? Some Hydrangeas get winter kill if grown one 5 and colder because the blossom buds are set the previous fall. The Hydrangea macrophilla wife insisted on even though I told here the blossoms would winter kill does that every year. There are some other reasons, but that is the most common. This web site might be of some help.
