My Rose Marsh Mallows must have a pest or disease , which is presenting itself as lacey leaves. The blooms were fine in July, but now the entire plant looks like a former ghostly shadow of itself. The leaves have been eated, everywhere except along the veins and edges of the leaf.
Any ideas,suggestions, comments?

Lacey Rose Mallow leaves (post #19286, reply #1 of 1)
Japanese Beetles are out and about now and they leave leaves lacey. If you see them you can go out in the morning, before the sun warms them so they can move around and knock them into a bucket of soapy water. Alternatively you could spray with Neem Oil, which many people report is effective, or a pyrethrin dust or spray, however they are both fairly broad spectrum poisons so due care in use is necessary.
