gardening in a drought
gardening in a drought (post #19166)
I;m only a tad north of neiphyte it the gardening specturm, but the topic of "gardening in a drought" struck me with interest. Hmmm , lets see if aerial gardening fits into that equation.
Only hits on searches were aerial roots..... Hmmm... lets try Zeriscape (little or no water)
My knowledge of aerail gardening is non-experiential, but comes from my interest in boot-strap and traditional technologies. I may be quite dated on terminology and acronyms, but aerial gardening apparently came from the deserts of Northern Africa....Egypt etc.
My recollection is that the process was that you took a bunch of Camel Dung; made a pile , placed a bunch of rocks on top of it, . The dew that collected on the rocks ran down into the dung, providing the necessary moisture for the plant. Maybe not enuf, but then dont stressed plamts flower more profusely?More flowers, more fruit.
A bucket of compost, topped with pile of rocks....whats to lose~eh. worst case is the pile of rocks shows you where the compost is for the next experimet....
