I wanted to comment on Jeff Gillman's remarks about plastic lumber and BPA. Where did he get information saying many plastics contain BPA? Polycarbonate Plastic contained BPA (rigid baby bottles, and some reusable water bottles were made from PolyCarbonate with BPA).. And a check of several websites giving information on plastic lumber content shows that Polycarbonate plastic isn't in most if any plastic lumber from recycled content. Plastic lumber is mainly made from milk jugs and other post consumer plastic meaning it is from plastic that was deemed safe for our food to be in. It would be wise for anyone considering plastic lumber to research the brand they are buying to find out the exact content of the lumber before using it for a raised bed that will grow vegatables. Most companies have that information readily available.
