What are the plants?
I went to the Extras to find out what other plants were in the article "Coloring With Annuals" in the February 2011 issue, but the picture I wanted to learn about wasn't used. There are four plants in that picture I want identified:
The dark coleus across the path
The curled edge, silvery plant behind the elephant ears
The weeping evergreen behind the silvery plant
The amazing tall grass (?) with pinky-purple starbursts at the top in the background far right
Please? Thanks,
Marcia

Hi Marcia,
I contacted the author of that article. He will be pulling together the plant list for you shortly. I'll post the plant identifications for you as soon as I have them.

Fine Gardening - Plant IDs (post #18457, reply #2 of 2)
Hi Marcia,
Here are the ID's for the plants in the photograph from Dean Engelmann's Coloring with Annuals.
Felt plant (Kalanchoe beharensis, Zone 10-11)
'Golden Splendor' Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis 'Golden Splendor', Zones 4-8)
'Malepartus' maiden grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Malepartus', Zones 5-9)
And, unfortunately, the dark coleus is an exclusive from Tangletown Gardens in Minnesota. It isn't currently available elsewhere on the market.
Best,
Brandi
