screening from road

Hello!
new to site but love gardening. I am trying to create a loose screening for a sunny front lawn (45 feet or so) zone 7 . It gets lovely afternoon sunlight so I don't want anything too dense or too tall but would love some privacy from our neighbors. I'm thinking magnolia stellata... Would be most grateful for any advice on what could work.
