Blackberries
I would like to plant blackberries this year in my zone 5 garden in lower Michigan. Can anyone recommend a good, thornless variety? I have everbearing raspberries planted near the potential site, do I need to be concerned about cross-pollination?
Also, any recommendations on where to purchase...I have been checking and reading the major seed catalogs, Gurney, Burpee, etc.

Thornless blackberries (post #18396, reply #1 of 1)
I have Chesters (see my blog post http://www.vegetablegardener.com/item/3253/thornless-blackberries) and I've been pretty happy with them. As for catalogs, take a look at Indiana Berry, which is in the Midwest, as you are. https://indianaberry.com/ They offer lots of thornless blackberries. I'd suggest phoning the company and asking for a good variety for your location. That's what I did when I ordered my blackberry plants from Nourse Farms, a Massachusetts nursery (I'm in Connecticut).
You can probably also find out about the risks of cross pollination, too. I don't have an answer for that.
