Pear Damage
I have recently planted some new fruit trees, two of which are pears. The blossom has dropped and looking at the small pears formed note small holes in almost every fruit.
I have never heard of boring insects attacking pears.
Questions. What insect causes the damage?
Is the fruit wasted?
What can I do next year to prevent this happening?

I found a reference to pear psyllya online as a pear pest. It causes leaf drop, black sooty mold on leaves and bark, black specks on fruits, and results in small imperfect fruits. Whether or not this fits your problem, you can find out more about possible cures at:
