Strawberries
Hello Fellow Strawberry Growers,
I have about 50 strawberry plants growing in a raised bed. They are between 2 & 3 years old. In early Spring I lifted them to clean out the bed and the plants, turn over the soil and add amendments. I have noticed the outer leaves on many of the plants are turning brown. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to treat? The problem is not lack of water.

maybe it's just the normal effects of winter... (post #18736, reply #1 of 2)
I don't know where you live, but here in Connecticut my strawberry plants always look ratty in early spring, but once new growth starts, they are back in business.

Thanks Ruth, I hope your right. Here in Provence we have had unusually warm weather for this time of year, in fact summer-like these last few weeks. I'm planning to take a effected plant to my local nursery today to ask, so will post comments. Hopefully they won't just try and sell me a product!
