My understanding is that bl end rot is caused by a lack of calcium, which can be triggered by drought or overwatering (must be a fine line). I bought a spray last year from Agway in an attempt to end it, but it didn't work. This year, I've been spraying weekly. Good luck.
Blossom end rot (post #17346, reply #2 of 2)
Blossom end rot is generally a result of improper watering or just too much water, although a calcium deficiency can also be the problem. In the past we watered using an overhead system and always had the first few days of fruit riddled with blossom end rot, but it would eventually stop and the rest of our crop was perfect. This year we are using drip irrigation and hope to have better results. So far lots of green tomatoes but nothing ripe enough to determine if we've solved the problem.
