Lettuce and shade
Does anyone have experience growing lettuce in part shade?
I'm curious if it does okay there.
Thanks,
Susie

my lettuce does fine in part shade (post #19448, reply #1 of 2)
If sunny space is at a premium in your yard, save it for true sun lovers like tomatoes and peppers. I grow most of my lettuce in part shade, even mostly shade. It takes longer to mature there, but it also lasts longer in the heat of summer, well into July (in SW Connecticut). You can see a photo of my shady salad bar in my blog post at VegetableGardener.com (FineGardening.com's sister site): http://www.vegetablegardener.com/item/3911/grow-lettuce-from-seed

Thanks for your reply. I have one bed that has a bit of shade and will use this now for the lettuce.
