RoundUp Question
I've heard that RoundUp is a safe and effective way to clear a flowerbed or vegetable garden. Is this true and how harmful are the chemicals to the environment?

When evidence is contradictory, err on the side of caution (post #18601, reply #1 of 2)

while i love roundup (post #18601, reply #2 of 2)
i wouldn't use it in a vege garden. it has been banned in germany since last year and that's sad as it was my all ppurpose weed cleaner. (i'm from a plant nurssery). i even managed to kill parts of my hated berberis hedge with it! anyway, in a vege garden it might be a problem, you won't just kill the weed but also your plants. and it works systemically) which means it doesn't only work where you spray but it goes into the plant's system so you mmay see results some days later. For vege gardens I fiind that weeding (by hand is the most perfect thing. For more info on RoundUp you want to go to the Monsanto Site. but anyway, handywork is best in a vege garden...
