Snapped my branch!
HI - I am growing my first tomato plant and I came home today to see it lying on the ground. I went to lift it up and lean it against the stake and the very top of the main branch snapped. It did not completely come off but it certainly is damaged. Is there anything I can do to avoid disease and keep the general growth of the plant moving strong? It has been in the ground for over a month now, with a current height of aprox. 2 feet, and has budded on 4 different branches. Seems to be going very well but I am super concerned by the recent series of events. Please advise! Thanks

branch snapped (post #17281, reply #1 of 1)
The deer ate the leader off my tomatoes one year, all it does is delay the formation of flowers/fruit, because now the plant has to devote energy into developing a new leader for the flowers to form on. Clip the branch with bypass pruners down by a leaf node, and a new leader will form. Good luck!
