lavender
What is the best way to propagate from a lavender plant? My neighbor has a large plant that I'd like to try to grow in my yard. Should I try to root a branch or just dig up a hunk of it and plant in the ground?

Propagating lavender (post #17796, reply #1 of 1)
I grow tons of lavender in my wedding gardens. I've never tried rooting it, because it divides really easy. I've always just dug up a 'hunk' of it and planted it elsewhere. I have an always-ready window box full of planting mixture on my potting bench for when I'm weeding. If I come across any plant that I can divide, I plant it right there until I figure out where it's going to go!
