Old leach bed
I'm new to this forum. From the Western NY area. And I have a question about a old leach bed on the property. The septic system has been disconnected for about 20yrs, since the sewers were put in the area. And I'd like to know if I can plant anything on top of the old leach bed or even put a greenhouse there? Right now it's covered with lawn grass.
Thanks.

There would be no reason not to put a greenhouse there, and planting would be fine too after all that time. After 20 years anything that might have been of harm to you is gone. While they're still in use it's best not to plant food crops over them, and it's best not to plant anything that might invade the lines with roots, which greatly limits what you can plant. Now that the system is defunct the restrictions are gone.
